Do you dance in the heavens
over your children's praises?
Do you weep with those
who are incarcerated?
Do you gently lift each scraped knee,
in order to kiss it lovingly?
Do you mend each broken heart
with the joy that's in yours?
Do you dance in the heavens,
or on earth here with us?
Will you teach us the steps you know?
The rhythm of each day
so that as time goes on
it's passed in a dance with you.
God, that's our heart.
To dance with you each and every day.
To know you in all your ways.
To know you in sadness and in joy.
And to dance your steps through it all.
